Start Talking before Doing
Don’t make the mistake of thinking your child is too young to start learning about the potty. After all, toilet training isn’t a process that will simply happen by magic overnight. It’s going to take time to prepare the both of you mentally for the task ahead.
In order to start this process, you need to feel comfortable talking “potty talk” with your child. Decide on the verbiage you want to use for their genitalia as well as what comes out of their bodies (“pee-pee” and “poo-poo” are the most popular of course).
From there, you can start talking about these things at diaper changes. Talk about how their food and drink comes out in their diaper and the fact that one day they will use the “big kid” potty like Mommy and Daddy someday.
