Surviving The First 3 Months With Your New Baby

Recreate the Womb

Recreate the Womb

The world outside of your womb is very different from what your baby is used to in the womb. Everything is big, bright, and loud, which can be a bit overwhelming for a newborn. The best way you can help your child make a smooth transition from womb to world is to try and recreate the womb whenever possible.

Now, of course, I don’t mean leaving your baby in a warm tub of water in the dark all the time; there are actually other ways you can help your baby feel safe again, ways you may not even realize.

Keep your little one dressed warmly and try to keep them swaddled. This will help to feel confined again and stifle their startle reflex so they can sleep easier. Rocking your baby, talking to them, and laying them skin to skin on your chest can also recreate some of these feelings.
