Dads can often find themselves on the sidelines when it comes to a new baby in the family. Mom carried the baby for 9 months and now she does the feeding, changing, bathing, comforting, and so on.
This is not good for mom or dad; you are both parents of this new little baby so you should both share the responsibility of caring for it. Putting full responsibility on one parent or the other can lead to burnout and can prevent the other parent from fully bonding with the baby.
Both parents should be given equal opportunity to participate in every responsibility involved with parenting. You may find that you are better at or more comfortable with one thing than another. Maybe dad takes care of the bedtime routine while mom does the feeding and daytime play.
